Today in Class:

School Announcements:
  • GOT PLANS? (FLYER)
    Got Plans? Career/College Fair is for 9th-12th grade students and their parents.  Got Plans? is this SATURDAY October 8th , from 10 am to 1 pm, at Cuyamaca College. This event is for ALL students: those preparing to go directly into the work force, military, vocational/trade school, 2 year college or 4 year college/university.

    The format for the Career and College Fair is one in which students and parents can browse among fair participants located in well-marked areas on the Cuyamaca Campus choosing institutions that are of interest.  Our fabulous Link Crew will be there to point families in the right direction.  Each representative will have their own table and be available to answer questions.

    The day includes many different 45-min. workshops to help parents and students plan for the future.  These sessions will be held in nearby classrooms with presenters speaking about college admissions, transfer options, financial aid, admissions tests, college essays, athletics, career trends, health careers, public safety careers, and more.

  • PSAT (FLYER)  Wednesday, October 19th  7:15 a.m. to 10:18 a.m. 
    Registration for the PSAT is open to 10th and 11th grade students from Sept. 26 – Oct. 7, 2016 and may be completed online at valhalla.guhsd.net or in the Finance Office.

    Practice for the NEW SAT and gain access to valuable resources such as prep courses through Khan Academy and more! LIMITED TESTS AVAILABLE!

Today's Recap, 10/3

Today in Class:
  • Stamp 3.3 Cornell Notes
  • Submit comic strip storyboard to Google Classroom (see assignment)
  • Use http://www.bibme.org/ for storyboard citations in MLA format and to create a "works cited" page
  • Comic Strips must be submitted as a hard copy (an actual paper with your cartoon on it) AND as a digital copy.  
  • To make a digital copy:
    • Scan your artwork at home or using a scanner in the library
    • Take a HIGH QUALITY photo of your artwork using your cell phone
      • Image should be cropped to remove distracting elements and show only the artwork
      • Image should not have any shadows across the artwork from the camera or photographer
      • Image should be well-lit and not have glare, shadows, uneven lighting, or other signs of poor image quality
  • Week 8 At a Glance
  • Homework: Continue working on your comic strip and finish submitting storyboard if not finished in class

  • Turn in Ch. 3.2 Cornell Notes
  • Flocabulary: French Revolution
  • Exit Ticket (10 questions based on the Flocabulary, see Google Classroom for questions and a copy of the lyrics)
  • Sign up for your Comic Strip Topic (1 of 5 options)
  • Work Period (work on Comic Strip or Ch. 3.3 Cornell Notes)
  • Homework
    • Complete a storyboard for your 6 cell comic strip.  Have a 1-2 sentence description of what you plan to draw for each of the 6 cells (10-12 sentences total, labeled by cell)
    • Ch. 3.3 Cornell Notes
    • Start reviewing for Chapter 3 Test on Friday, 10/7
